Dr Emmanuel Daudu Ph.D
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has welcomed the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Mr Richard Pheelangwah, back to the ministry following his reinstatement by the Federal Government after being cleared of allegations linking him to an alleged fake agency scam.
According to a press release signed by Queeneth Iheoma-Hart, Chief Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Defence, Pheelangwah’s reinstatement followed the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who authorised his return to duty after he was cleared of any involvement in the alleged fake agency scam.
The Minister received the Permanent Secretary in his office on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, where he expressed confidence in their continued cordial working relationship and called for stronger collaboration within the ministry’s leadership to enhance effective administration and service delivery.
Musa said the ministry was committed to building on the existing synergy among its leadership to advance its mandate and strengthen Nigeria’s defence and security architecture.
The reinstatement, according to the ministry, reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to due process, fairness and accountability, while ensuring that public officers are not subjected to unjust punishment.
In his response, Pheelangwah expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and the Federal Government for the opportunity to resume his duties.
He pledged to discharge his responsibilities with renewed dedication, professionalism and commitment to national service, while working with the Minister and other stakeholders to achieve the ministry’s objectives.
The Permanent Secretary also reaffirmed his commitment to advancing Nigeria’s defence and security priorities through effective administrative coordination and institutional collaboration.
The development underscores the Ministry of Defence’s emphasis on institutional continuity, leadership cooperation and improved service delivery in the pursuit of national security objectives.
