Abel Damina didn’t ordain Dr Paul Enenche into ministry – Paul Odola opens up

Apostle Paul Odola, the General Overseer of Dominion Power Assembly International, has countered the recent claim by Pastor Abel Damina of Power City International that he (Damina) ordained the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr Paul Enenche and gave him direction into ministry.

Recall that Damina had always claimed that he was the one who ordained Dr Enenche into ministry and gave him direction on how to start his now global ministry, a claim many people have faulted.

Damina had also claimed that he ordained both Dr Enenche and Apostle Odola same day into ministries.

Speaking for the first time on the controversy in an interview with newsmen, Apostle Odola faulted Damina’s claim, stressing that Pastor Enenche was already an established minister before his path crossed that of Damina very breifly in 1995.

He said, “I’ve been privileged to know Dr. Abel Damina and Dr. Paul Enenche since 1995 and that was the first time Dr. Paul Enenche came into the picture.

“At the time Dr. Paul came into the picture, he was already a man of God in his own right. I have a particular handbill where Dr Paul featured as a guest speaker in 1995.

“In that handbill, there was one pastor called Dr Friday Yanga. Dr Paul came into the picture already as a minister of the gospel, fireful and vibrant. He often attended conferences that Damina organized then.

“There was this Jos Prayer Conference that was going on then that Dr. Paul attended. When the ICMA movement became a church, Dr. Paul came in as an associate minister. Sometimes he went around preaching, so we didn’t get to see him on Sundays. If he was around, he just came in for the service.

“I had the opportunity to invite Dr Paul to minister for us in Bauchi State in 1995. He was then a man of God in his own right. He came to that meeting with Dr Becky, his wife, and their daughter, Deborah, his mother in-law. He was anointed, fireful, a man of God in his own right by all standards.

“We had the opportunity of coming around Dr. Joshua Talena and Dr. Damina, and it was very clear that Dr. Paul was different. He was different from us in so many ways. He was different in his lifestyle, his approach to ministry, and his morality. At one of the conferences we had in Uyo in 1996, Dr Paul also attended. It was obvious that Dr Paul had his own approach, his own lifestyle, and ministry. He only came around as an associate.

“We always knew he had a ministry that was going to be global because of his approach to life and ministry, which was quite different from ours.

“His very strict and high standard of living was different from ours because we were all young men then. The way he is today, I am not surprised.

“If Dr Abel Damina claims to have trained or ordained Dr Paul Enenche into ministry, it is false.

“When a man who had his own ministry and was already in ministry associates with you at one point in time, it does not mean you ordained him into ministry. It is just like saying John the Baptist ordained Jesus into ministry. Today, we can see that Dr Paul Enenche had it and was intentional about it while he was with us.

Asked how long Dr Paul’s association with Damina lasted before he founded his church, Odola said, “The interaction was quite brief because Dr Paul was already in ministry and only associated with us. He realized that the company was not befitting for him and he left.

“On our part, our youthful exuberance was very obvious, so Dr Paul, sensing and understanding that, had to completely dissociate himself from us. That interaction and association were brief. I think it was that lack of principle and youthful exuberance that he observed. When he came around, he didn’t stay too long and today, the difference is clear.”

Speaking on the claim that Damina was part of the inaugural service of Dunamis Church in Abuja, Odola said, “To the best of my memory, Dr Paul had already started the church in Abuja when Dr Damina and I came for one of his conferences. I was part of that conference. The church had already started before Dr Abel Damina was invited to come as a guest minister.

“As a matter of fact, we were all surprised at what the church had grown to be within a short period. Obviously, I don’t think it was the inaugural meeting that we came for because the church had already started and Dr Abel was invited as a guest speaker and we all came together.

“Anyone with us then would know that Dr Paul Enenche knew where he was headed and what he wanted to do. People like Rev Talena could tell that Dr Paul came in with the understanding of ministry and where he was headed.

“When it was time to start his own ministry, we all knew he was going to leave.

“Dr Paul had always shown clearly that he knew where he was going and what he wanted to do in ministry.

“I want to say this with all sincerity. I invited him (Dr Paul) to preach in our church in Bauchi in 1995 because I saw that he was quite different among us. He was the first person that ever came to preach when I answered the call.

“I did it because I saw what he had and who he was. Today, I am not surprised at what the Lord has used him to do. I had the privilege of taking a tour of the Glory Dome recently, and I want to say that people only see the Dome from the outside. They have no idea of the Glory Dome except if they come and visit and experience it like I did. Dr Paul is not just a gift to our nation; he’s a gift to our generation.

“What he has been able to do by the hand of God, no man can claim. No man can claim that he has inspired it. He is a generational gift and consistently remains an inspiration to our generation. I think everyone in their right senses should give this man the honor he deserves and learn from what God is using him to do.

“Dr Paul Enenche, I must say this with all sincerity is one of the greatest voices we have in the body of Christ. He is more or less like the current father of our faith because, whether we like it or not, the older generations are phasing out.

“He is one of the current fathers of faith that my generation of ministers is looking up to. Let’s talk about the lives that he has touched. In every country he has gone to, presidents and leaders of that nation attend his crusades. Such a man should be given the honor he deserves.

“So, Dr Damina’s comments regarding Dr. Paul Enenche are completely unfounded.”

CISLAC Urges Nigerian Government to Address Citizens’ Grievances with Clear Timeframe

Bilkisu Adejoh

The Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC) has called on the Nigerian government to establish a definitive timeline for resolving citizens’ grievances, rather than suppressing protests.

This plea was made by the Executive Director of CISLAC, Comrade Auwal Musa Rafsanjani, who highlighted the urgency of addressing issues such as inflation, unemployment, corruption, and insecurity.

“Inflation, unemployment, corruption, and insecurity are critical challenges that need urgent attention. The integrity of our institutions is in question, and it is imperative to restore trust and confidence so that citizens can once again believe in their country,” Rafsanjani stated.

Rafsanjani emphasized the need to protect the rights of protesters, stating that peaceful protest is a fundamental right in Nigeria.

“Protesters must be protected. This is a democratic right, and the government should ensure their safety. The protests should not be framed along religious, ethnic, and political lines; rather, the government at all levels should listen to and address the genuine concerns of the people,” he added.

CISLAC has urged local and state governments to leverage their influence to resolve issues constructively, rather than exerting undue pressure on protesters, which could provoke further unrest. “Addressing the issues raised is crucial. The government must set a clear timeframe for resolving these problems instead of merely attempting to halt protests or arresting those who want to protest,” Rafsanjani emphasized.

The organization also warned against the military’s involvement in handling domestic issues, which should be the responsibility of the police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

“The military should not assume the role of the police in domestic matters. Professionalism and restraint are essential to avoid escalating tensions,” Rafsanjani cautioned.

Rafsanjani also called on protesters to remain responsible and vigilant against individuals seeking to exploit the protests for negative purposes.

“Protesters must remain peaceful and vigilant. The police should protect them and ensure the protest does not escalate due to the actions of those with malicious intentions,” he noted.

CISLAC further called for comprehensive measures to address the issues at hand, allowing citizens to freely express their opinions on government actions.

“In a democratic setting, every individual should have the right to express their views on government performance. President Bola Tinubu, himself a product of protest, should understand and respect this right,”

CISLAC stands firmly with the citizens in their right to peaceful protest and calls on the government to act with urgency and responsibility in addressing the concerns raised by Nigerians.

The organization also called on governments at both state and national levels to release those who have been arrested for expressing their desire to join peaceful protests for positive change.

Minister Urges Nigerian Youth to Cancel August Protest

By Maryam Aminu

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has called on Nigerian youth to cancel the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August.

Speaking in his office on Thursday, Olawande emphasized that protests with potential for destruction are not the best way to voice concerns to the government.

“There are many ways we can register our displeasure as youth to the government, but a protest that has the potential to snowball into destruction is not an option,” Olawande stated.

“We have our whole future ahead of us. Hence, anything that hurts Nigeria affects us more than anyone else.”

Highlighting the government’s efforts to address youth issues, he pointed to various youth-focused initiatives.

He mentioned the “Young and Secure” campaign, which aims to prevent a recurrence of the issues that led to the 2020 #EndSARS protests, and the “Youth Desk,” a platform for young Nigerians to voice their concerns.

The Minister stressed the importance of bringing the government closer to the youth.

“Personally, I believe we need to work to bring the government closer to the youth, to make it easier for the youth to feel and experience the impact of government. This is the reason I have prioritized a political engagement, by visiting more than 13 states so far,” he said.

Olawande acknowledged the challenge of unemployment and the skills mismatch in the labour market. To address this, he cited the Nigerian Youth Academy (NIYA), which aims to upskill youth and connect them to employers.

“For those pursuing self-employment, the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) provides support, and President Tinubu has allocated ₦50 billion in nano-grants to small businesses across all 774 local government areas.” He stated

The Minister also mentioned the Consumer Credit Scheme, introduced by President Tinubu, to enable Nigerians to access goods and services with payments spread over time.

In the political sphere, Olawande noted that the President has appointed a significant number of young people to top government positions and promoted local government autonomy to democratize political participation at the grassroots level.

“While all the initiatives we are working on may not have addressed all the problems, I am confident that President Tinubu will continue to expand opportunities for the youth and other categories of Nigerians to thrive,” Olawande said.

He urged the youth to be patient and use all available channels to engage with the government.

“The doors to my office are open at all times to receive your complaints, grievances, and suggestions. Protests that will muddle up the issues we are fighting for will not advance our cause,” the Minister pleaded.

    Maryam Aminu

At present, family farming is a subject of great importance for sustainable development of rural communities and promotion of healthy lifestyle.

Family farming is the predominant form of agriculture in the food production sector for both in developing and developed countries. In this sense, the National Committee for Family Farming organised a National Congress Meeting on Thursday at the NUJ FCT Council Press Center in Utako, Abuja

In his remarks, the National Coordinator of the National Committee for Family Farming (NCFF) Nigeria, Mr. Raymond Enoch, highlighted the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and food security across the nation.

Mr. Enoch emphasized the critical role family farming plays in linking economic, environmental, social, and cultural functions for food production and consumption.

He expressed that the meeting aimed to broaden the national conversation on the seven pillars of the Global Action Plan of the United Nations Decade for Family Farming (UNDEFF-2019-2028).

“Adopted by the UN General Assembly, the seven pillars include developing an enabling policy environment, ensuring youth and generational sustainability, promoting gender equity and women’s leadership, strengthening family farmers’ organizations, improving socio-economic inclusion, promoting climate-resilient food systems, and strengthening the multidimensionality of family farming.” He said

Mr Enoch expressed that a key objective of the UNDFF Global Action Plan was to develop 100 National Action Plans (NAP) on Family Farming by 2028, in collaboration with governments, family farmers’ organizations, and multistakeholder platforms.

He noted that Nigeria’s NAP would address the challenges and potential of family farming comprehensively, contributing to national priorities in agriculture, nutrition, environment, and health, thereby aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“NCFF Nigeria has taken significant steps towards this goal, including signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to mobilize strategic stakeholders for developing the NAP.”

He expressed that NCFF Nigeria is engaging with partners such as the UN’s FAO and IFAD, AFD, and the Benue State Government to streamline actions towards achieving the UNDFF mandate.

Mr. Enoch called on all stakeholders in agriculture, private sectors, farmers’ organizations, women, and youth to join hands with NCFF Nigeria in advancing sustainable agricultural practices through family farming initiatives.

“This collaborative effort aims to bolster food security and achieve the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.” He added

NCFF National Coordinator reaffirmed NCFF Nigeria’s commitment to fostering sustainable, inclusive, viable, and resilient food systems, ensuring a brighter future for Nigeria through family farming.

Keyamo conducts groundbreaking ceremony of AAAU Permanent Site, wishes maiden students well

    By Emmanuel Daudu

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Hon. Festus Keyamo has conducted a groundbreaking ceremony of the African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja, stating that the Tinubu-led administration will continue to support the Aviation sector.

The event took place today at the AAAU Permanent Site, Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road, Abuja.

The Minister while conducting the ground breaking,  disclosed, “Just last year, when I was tasked with piloting the affairs of the Ministry of Aviation, I knew, as did everyone, about the key agencies within the aviation ministry of Nigeria, such as FAAN, NCAA, NAMA, and others. Little was known about a nascent institution until the Permanent Secretary scheduled briefings for me from various agencies. It was then that I first heard about AAAU. After I was formally briefed by the Management Team of AAAU, I gained a clear picture of their mandate and the enormous benefit to Nigeria in pioneering such a potentially great institution.

“The university currently operates from a temporary campus provided by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) as part of their interagency support. This current place where we stand today, now designated as the permanent site, is strategically located and fit for purpose. We are here today with the support of President Bola Tinubu, who approved a take-off grant for AAAU to complement the budget provision made available for the university’s development in the 2024 appropriation.

“The following structures will be part of the first phase of development for the university: The Faculty of Aviation Management Building, the Postgraduate School Building, 250-capacity auditorium, A 350-capacity auditorium, A research centre, A synoptic laboratory for meteorology ,A multipurpose laboratory, Initial fencing covering 2 kms, as well as two ceremonial gatehouses

“We are confident that these projects will be completed within 48 weeks, thanks to TETFund for making the grant 100% available and accessible. In today’s world, where public-private partnerships thrive, the university intends to explore the possibility of partnering with the private sector for the development of hostels, a clinic, a conference centre, and, due to the proximity to the airport”.

The event also witnessed the maiden matriculation of the African Aviation and Aerospace University at the Take-Off campus (NSIB training school) on Bill Clinton Drive, Airport Road, Abuja.

While speaking, the Hon. Minister has this to say, “Today’s event transcends a mere matriculation; it symbolizes the commencement and take-off of an institution destined for greatness. We have just witnessed the matriculation of 30 pioneer undergraduate students and 60 pioneer postgraduate students in various disciplines of aviation and environmental science. This is a monumental step forward, signifying our commitment to excellence and innovation in these fields.

“The AAAU is a brainchild of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, conceptualized by the immediate past administration. Upon my appointment as Minister of Aviation last year, I met the University at its cradle, just about to commence admissions for the 2023/2024 academic session. Under my watch, the University has now secured a permanent site right here on Bill Clinton Drive, where I had the honour of performing the groundbreaking ceremony before coming here. This site will house the construction of a Faculty of Aviation Management, two auditoriums with a collective seating capacity of 600, a School of Postgraduate Studies, a central library, and a research centre, among other key infrastructures. This was achievable with the approval of a takeoff grant for capital projects by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through TETFund.

“The unwavering support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. This initiative aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope agenda of the current administration, particularly Agenda 4 of my 5-point agenda, which focuses on addressing the human resource gap in the aviation sector. Our mission is to ensure that Nigeria not only keeps pace with global developments in aviation and aerospace but also sets new standards.

“In pursuit of this mission, we have established AAAU as a centre of excellence where cutting-edge research and innovation are not just encouraged but are the cornerstone of our academic programs. The curriculum in collaboration with international experts in the field of aviation education from renowned specialised aviation institutions has been meticulously designed to blend theoretical knowledge with practical experience while tailored to fit our own local peculiarities, ensuring that our graduates are well-prepared to tackle the challenges of the aviation industry and beyond.

“To our new students, you are embarking on a journey that will not only shape your future but also the future of aviation and aerospace. As I told you the undergraduate students during my previous visit to your lecture room, you are the pioneers of this great institution, and with that comes the responsibility to set high standards and maintain good morals to pave the way for those who will follow. As you all are encouraged to graduate with distinction in both character and learning. Embrace the opportunities before you, strive for excellence, and remember that you are not just students of AAAU, but ambassadors of Nigeria’s aviation and aerospace future. Your journey here will shape the future of the aviation industry, and I have no doubt that you will make us proud.

“In conclusion, I commend the current management and staff of AAAU, led by the Registrar, for their unwavering efforts, commitment, and hard work. The strides the institution has made thus far are a testament to your collective dedication. However, this is just the beginning. I encourage you to continue striving for excellence, cementing your legacy in aviation academic history, and elevating Nigeria on the global stage.

“I am pleased to also State it here that a new Vice-Chancellor will be announced soon, following the directive of Mr. President. You should be rest assured that this appointment shall mark a significant step in consolidating your achievements thus far.

“Additionally, I applaud the obvious symbiotic relationship between AAAU and NSIB as an obvious product of interagency alliance and I have always reiterated the significance of interagency collaboration within the aviation sector as this has been my mantra from day one as Minister because that helps in building a more knowledge-based industry. I also thank all aviation agencies for their unwavering support of this nascent University. Your contributions are pivotal to our collective success”, he added.

When Is Enough Truly Enough by Barr. Ugwuanyi Felix

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

This write-up has become necessary as it now seems every day belongs to the thief. You are aware of the popular saying that “Every day is for the thief but one day is for the owner of the house.” When will the owner of the house step in to save our democracy from the hands of insatiable looters?

It is ironic how some judges make witnesses swear in court with either a Bible or a Qur’an to tell the truth, while they themselves go behind closed doors to take bribes and sell their judgments to the highest bidder. The popular saying that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man should be rephrased to: Some High Courts and the Supreme Court are the last hopes of the common man.

Ever since Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem became the President of the Court of Appeal, it has become a commercial court where the bigger bribe gets the favorable judgment. It is so bad that most lawyers are advocating for the law to be amended to allow appeals to go straight to the Supreme Court from the High Courts.

It is on record that the Supreme Court has overturned more judgments from the Court of Appeal under Monica’s administration than it had ever overturned in previous administrations combined. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem is so compromised that she took money to sell out her own state (Plateau) to the highest bidder. The legitimate governor was lucky that the Supreme Court had the final say in his case. Others whose final stop is the Court of Appeal are still nursing their wounds to this day. Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem sold out the people of Kano too before a divine intervention saved the state. How do you explain judges sitting in open court to read a judgment that is the complete opposite of the Certified True Copy (CTC) they gave to the parties? Kano State and Plateau State owe their legitimate victories to God and the Supreme Court.

Information I gathered from one of the close aides of Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, who wishes to remain anonymous for job security reasons, is that for every high-profile case that comes before the Court of Appeal, the President directs the panel handling the case to write two judgments: one in favor of the appellants and another in favor of the respondents. The party who brings the biggest bribe will have their judgment read out.

Another very disturbing report is the allegation that Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem has taken over 20 billion Naira from the Governorship candidate of the APC in Kogi State to sell the people of Kogi out. There are credible reports alleging that she is currently working towards receiving another 20 billion Naira+ from the Kogi State purse to try and penetrate the Supreme Court justices so that the flawed judgment from the Court of Appeal will be affirmed by the Supreme Court. A plan which has already failed because the Supreme Court has shown lately that they will not compromise, just as they did in Kano, Plateau, and the recent judgment on Local Government Autonomy.

At this point, I am calling on Mr. President and all relevant agencies and stakeholders to investigate these serious allegations. If she is allowed to have her way at the Supreme Court, her greed might lead to violent demonstrations all over the country (because whatever precedent that is set by the Supreme Court in Kogi State’s Governorship tussle will be applied to all states in the country) which is a big threat to our fragile democracy.

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem cannot be allowed to set the country on fire. I am calling on the relevant security agencies to investigate her, monitor her every move, and keep tabs on her financial transactions.

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, enough is enough! I am also calling on you to do the honorable thing and resign your position immediately pending the outcome of the investigations against you.

Every day is for the thief, but one glorious day is all the owner needs to forget the pains of the past. Peace.
