FRC Chairman Muruako Applauds ICPC’s Anti-Corruption Drive at 2025 End-of-Year Event in Abuja

The Chairman of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), Victor Muruako, Esq., has praised the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for its unwavering commitment to accountability and the fight against corruption in Nigeria.

He gave the commendation in Abuja during the ICPC’s 2025 End-of-Year Activities.

Muruako, who conveyed warm greetings from the management and staff of the FRC, described the gathering as timely and reflective, coming at a period when the nation reviews its challenges and achievements for the year.

He lauded ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, and his team for sustaining the Commission’s reputation as one of the country’s leading anti-graft institutions.

Muruako also highlighted the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the FRC and the ICPC, noting that it marks a significant step in strengthening inter-agency cooperation in addressing corruption across all levels of government.

According to him, both agencies have, in recent months, intensified joint initiatives aimed at boosting accountability at the local government level, improving budget preparation processes, and entrenching prudent public fund management.

He added that the collaboration also targets reforms in tax administration, financial operations, and asset management systems areas he said are crucial to curbing leakages and promoting transparency.

Muruako stressed that acts of corruption, where identified, must be met with the full weight of the law to serve as deterrence.

The FRC Chairman further disclosed that the Commission is concluding work on its revised Five-Year Strategic Plan, which will expand collaboration with the ICPC to enhance the effective delivery of their shared mandates.

Reflecting on the year’s achievements, Muruako commended the ICPC for maintaining an unblemished operational record and urged its personnel to remain steadfast in their duties. He emphasized that their contributions to national development are recognized and valued.

He also encouraged Nigerians considering relocation abroad to reconsider, expressing confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda. According to him, Nigeria is steadily evolving into a country where citizens can live, work, and prosper.

Muruako reaffirmed the FRC’s commitment to supporting the ICPC, expressing optimism that 2026 will usher in even greater institutional accomplishments.
