In a remarkable show of respect and commitment to national security, Dr Sani Ibrahim Master, Acting Chairman of the West Africa Board of Trustees for the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization, has publicly lauded the Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria, General Christopher G. Musa, on the occasion of his second year in office. Dr Master praised General Musa as “a true General serving Nigeria with evident results,” highlighting his unwavering dedication to upholding the sovereignty and safety of the nation during challenging times.
Since his appointment as Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa has faced various complex security challenges, including the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and banditry.
Dr Master reflected on the significant strides made under General Musa’s leadership, noting that “his effective strategies and decisive actions have played a pivotal role in restoring peace and stability across many regions in Nigeria.” The West Africa Board of Trustees extends its gratitude for the courage and resilience demonstrated by the Nigerian Armed Forces, especially in the efforts to combat insecurity that has plagued the country for years.

Dr Master underscored the importance of strong leadership in the Armed Forces, stating, “General Musa’s leadership has not only inspired the troops under his command but has also instilled a sense of confidence in the civilian population. Few Key achievements so far by General Musa’s leadership.
“Tactical Innovations: The introduction of new tactical measures and technologies, which have modernised Nigeria’s approach to counterinsurgency operations. The enhanced use of intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance has improved operational efficiency significantly. According to a report by the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, “such strategic shifts have led to the neutralisation of numerous terrorist threats and the rescue of countless civilians.
“Increased Collaboration: Under General Musa’s command, there has been a notable increase in cooperation between military and other security agencies. By fostering interagency collaboration, he has ensured a more unified approach to tackling the multifaceted security challenges faced by the nation, reflecting a model that could serve other countries facing similar issues.

Initiatives to engage with local populations and foster trust between the military and civilians have been instrumental in reducing hostilities and improving the overall security situation in affected areas”.

Dr Master elaborated, “This commitment to community engagement is vital; it is about building a safer Nigeria for all, not just through force, but also through connection and understanding”
While recognising General Musa’s successes, Dr Master did not shy away from acknowledging the complexities and critiques surrounding military operations in Nigeria. He stated, “No leadership is without its challenges, and we must remain open to constructive criticism as a means of growth.” There have been concerns regarding allegations of human rights abuses in some military operations. However, Dr Master insisted that “it is crucial to support our troops while advocating for the honouring of human rights, as a true democratic society must uphold the rule of law.”
General Musa has responded to these concerns by reiterating his commitment to upholding international standards in military operations. The Nigerian military has implemented training programs on human rights and the protection of civilians, which are supported by international bodies such as the United Nations.
Looking ahead, Dr Master expressed hope for the future of Nigeria’s security under General Musa’s leadership. He asserted, “The road ahead may be fraught with challenges, but with visionary leadership and a dedicated force, I firmly believe we can achieve a more secure and sustainable Nigeria.” He called for continued collaboration between the government, civil society, and international partners to support efforts that foster peace, stability, and development.
To this end, Dr Master encouraged the government to allocate adequate resources to the military, asserting that “we cannot expect our Armed Forces to succeed without the necessary tools and support”
Additionally, he advocated for enhanced strategic partnerships with international allies to combat cross-border security threats, urging these collaborations as vital to a broader understanding of global security dynamics.
“As we commemorate two years of General CG Musa’s dedicated service as Chief of Defence Staff, it is essential to recognise the significance of effective military leadership in shaping Nigeria’s future”.
Dr SaniIbrahim’sm Master’s commendation serves as a testament to the hard work and commitment of not only General Musa but also all members of the Nigerian Armed Forces who strive tirelessly to ensure the security and safety of the nation.
