NSCC Applauds Abia State for Signing Senior Citizens Centre Bill into Law

The National Senior Citizens Centre (NSCC) has lauded the Abia State Government following the signing of the Abia State Senior Citizens Centre Bill 2025 into law by Governor Dr. Alex Otti.

In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Affairs, Media, and Communications, Mr. Omini Oden, the NSCC described the development as a “milestone achievement” in the advancement of older persons’ rights and welfare in Nigeria.

“This law signals a progressive shift toward institutionalizing the inclusion, protection, and care of senior citizens in Abia State. It ensures better access to healthcare, economic empowerment, and social services for older persons,” the statement read.

The NSCC commended Governor Otti for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to social inclusion, highlighting that the legislation reflects a deep appreciation for the contributions of senior citizens to the development of the state.

“We applaud Governor Alex Otti’s proactive approach and express our readiness to collaborate with the Abia State Government to ensure the effective implementation of this law,” Oden added.
