The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has called on Nigerian youth to shift their focus from prolonged discussions to actionable steps, emphasizing the importance of meaningful contributions to governance and national development.

Speaking in Abuja during a courtesy visit by representatives of various youth organizations, including the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, Progressive Young Women Forum, United Nations Food System Youth Cohort, UNIMI Foundation, and National Honours Award Winners, Comrade Olawande underscored the need for collaboration and practical solutions.

“The era of talking without action is over,” the Minister declared. “Your cooperation is crucial in ensuring that the efforts of this administration positively impact the youth of this country. My office remains open to your contributions as we collectively work to take Nigerian youth to the next level.”

Comrade Olawande also reminded the youth leaders that while not everyone can hold public office, those appointed must be supported to succeed, rather than face undue criticism.

In response, the President of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum, Comrade Muritala Mohammed Garba, pledged the unwavering commitment of youth organizations to work with the Minister.

He described Comrade Olawande as a youthful and approachable leader who has inspired confidence among young people.

“During the campaign against bad governance, we made significant efforts to bridge the gaps between the government and the youth. We remain committed to fostering engagement and communication to continue this effort,” Comrade Muritala stated.

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the Ministry’s dedication to supporting youth initiatives within its available resources.

He stressed the importance of collaboration between youth bodies and the government in driving progress.

The visit marked a renewed commitment to actionable leadership and youth engagement in national development.
