In a decisive operation on January 17, 2025, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Air Component, carried out a series of coordinated clearance missions along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis.
The operation resulted in the elimination of scores of terrorists, including the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, who was hiding with his combatants on Fakai high ground.
The intensity of the troops’ firepower led to heavy casualties among the terrorists, the destruction of their logistics hub, and the successful rescue of several kidnapped hostages held captive by Turji’s group.
In a cowardly move, Bello Turji managed to escape, abandoning his son and fighters to their fate.
In a related operation, troops destroyed another terrorist camp led by a kingpin known as Idi Mallam, located in the Zango Kagara Forest. During the encounter, three terrorists were neutralized, and three suspected collaborators were arrested.
The operation also led to the recovery of significant arms and ammunition, including two machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Additionally, troops rescued 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep, among other items.
The ongoing operations reflect the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians. Troops remain relentless in their onslaught against terrorists, ensuring the protection and safety of citizens across the country.
