The Federal Government has launched the Youth Farmers Enrollment Portal, a strategic initiative aimed at addressing unemployment and food insecurity nationwide.

The Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, unveiled the portal at a ceremony in Abuja.

Developed in collaboration with the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-Radicalisation Programme (NIYEEDEP), the initiative is designed to provide economic opportunities for young Nigerians while revitalizing the agricultural sector.

“This intervention aligns with the economic agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, promoting active youth participation in national development,” the Minister noted.

Comrade Olawande revealed that the program targets creating six million direct jobs for youths in 2025 across agriculture, food and beverage, and agro-allied industries.

He emphasized that the initiative aims to combat youth unemployment, household poverty, hunger, and food insecurity, key issues threatening national security.

The newly launched portal is tailored for individuals aged 18 to 35, offering access to agricultural training, modern farming techniques, mentorship opportunities, and financial resources for starting or expanding agricultural ventures.

“This initiative goes beyond boosting food production. It is about equipping young Nigerians with sustainable skills, creating jobs in rural and urban areas, and ensuring the welfare and security of our citizens,” the Minister explained.

He urged youths across the country to seize this opportunity to shape the future of agriculture and contribute to national development. Interested individuals can register via the portal at http://www.niyeedep.org.
