The farewell press briefing of the outgoing Director of Defence Media Operations (DDMO), Major Edward Buba, held on January 16, 2025, was a poignant moment filled with admiration and gratitude. Major Buba, renowned for his unwavering commitment and strategic expertise, delivered his final weekly report on the military’s ongoing operations with the same clarity and precision that characterized his tenure.
In his farewell speech, he highlighted the military’s relentless efforts against terrorism, kidnapping, and crude oil theft across various regions.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the Armed Forces for their dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s security.
“It has been an honor to serve alongside brave men and women who put their lives on the line daily for the safety and sovereignty of our great nation,” he remarked.
Major Buba shared remarkable operational successes recorded by the Nigeria Armed Forces.
In the North East, the military neutralized 76 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, rescued eight kidnapped hostages, and recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition.
Similarly, in the North West, troops neutralized 64 terrorists, rescued 62 hostages, and successfully thwarted several kidnapping attempts.
“These achievements,” he emphasized, “were made possible through coordinated efforts, reliable intelligence, and the sacrifice of gallant soldiers.”
Major Buba also paid tribute to the fallen heroes, acknowledging their ultimate sacrifice for peace and stability.
Journalists and colleagues praised Major Buba for his transparency, professionalism, and ability to foster trust between the military and the media.
