The Armed Forces of Nigeria are demonstrating exceptional commitment to safeguarding the nation as troops intensify operations to ensure a secure and peaceful yuletide season for all citizens.
Across various theatres of operations, gallant soldiers are delivering resounding victories in the fight against terrorism, economic sabotage, and other security challenges.
In a decisive breakthrough in the North Central, troops apprehended two high-profile terrorist leaders, Hamisu Sale (aka Master) and Abubakar Muhammad.
These arrests have significantly disrupted terror networks, with both suspects cooperating and providing critical intelligence that is already shaping future operations.
This was contained in a message signed and made available to journalists in Abuja by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba
According to him, parallel success was recorded in the North West as troops captured the notorious terrorist leader Bako Wurgi, a key ally of the wanted criminal Bello Turji and mastermind behind the murder of the Sokoto Monarch.
Although Bako Wurgi succumbed to injuries sustained during a fierce encounter with troops, his cooperation before his death provided actionable intelligence that will further weaken terrorist structures in the region.
Major General Buba revealed that this week alone, Nigerian troops have achieved incredible milestones. Over 212 terrorists were neutralized, 272 individuals were arrested, and 152 kidnapped hostages were freed from captivity.
He added that in the South-South, troops dealt a significant blow to economic saboteurs, preventing the theft of over ₦1.19 billion worth of crude oil.
The recovery of 247 assorted weapons, including AK47 rifles, RPGs, and fabricated guns, alongside over 6,000 rounds of ammunition, highlights the effectiveness of ongoing military operations.
Additionally, vehicles, motorcycles, communication devices, and other items essential to criminal activities were seized, disrupting their operations.
Major General Buba disclosed that in the Niger Delta, relentless operations against oil theft led to the destruction of dozens of illegal refining sites, crude oil cooking ovens, and storage facilities.
He noted that Troops also recovered 940,372 liters of stolen crude oil, 252,000 liters of illegally refined diesel, and other petroleum products, ensuring the protection of vital national resources.
These remarkable achievements underscore the commitment of the Armed Forces to achieving lasting peace and stability across the nation.
As the military continues its operations, Nigerians are encouraged to actively support these efforts by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities. Together, we can build a safer and more secure Nigeria.
Salutes the extraordinary bravery and selflessness of the troops. Their sacrifices, he said, remain the backbone of the nation’s security and progress.
