The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering dedication to the welfare of Nigerian military personnel, both serving and retired.
Dr. Matawalle, in a statement signed and made available to journalists by the
Director Information and Public Relations Ministry of Defence, Henshaw Ogubike on Thursday in Abuja
confirmed the release of funds for the payment of pensions and other owed entitlements to retired military personnel, alongside the prompt disbursement of a three-month salary increase for active-duty military personnel.
He noted that alerts for the salary arrears have already begun reaching beneficiaries.
Commending President Tinubu’s leadership, the Minister emphasized that the President’s swift actions demonstrate a deep commitment to improving the living standards of military personnel.
He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, in facilitating the payments.
Dr. Matawalle urged members of the Nigerian Armed Forces to remain steadfast in their duties, assuring them of the President’s continued support in addressing the nation’s security challenges.
“Despite initial setbacks, be assured that Mr. President is fully committed to uplifting our military forces as they confront the challenges of insecurity,” he stated.
Highlighting the crucial role of the military in combating insurgency, terrorism, and other forms of criminality, Dr. Matawalle reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to empower the Armed Forces with the resources and morale they need to secure the nation.
This initiative underscores President Tinubu’s dedication to national security and his appreciation for the sacrifices made by the gallant men and women of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
