Governor Mutfwang Lauds President Tinubu for Enhanced Security in Plateau State

In a significant nod to the Federal Government’s efforts to restore peace in Plateau State, the Executive Governor of Plateau, H.E. Barr. Caleb M. Mutfwang, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering commitment to improving security in the region.

The Governor’s commendation came during a high-profile courtesy visit by the Honourable Minister of Defence, H.E. Mohammed Badaru Abubakar to the state’s leadership on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

Representing Governor Mutfwang, Deputy Governor Mrs. Josephine Ngo Piyo lauded the strides made under President Tinubu’s administration, emphasizing that the state’s government remains aligned with the Federal Government’s initiatives to foster peace.

“We will support the Federal Government’s plans, including engaging with affected Local Government Areas, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders to achieve lasting peace in the state. Thank you for the efforts to restore peace,” Piyo stated.

During his operational visit to Jos, the Minister highlighted the importance of dialogue in addressing the region’s security challenges.

He disclosed plans for interactive engagements with the Armed Forces, local leaders, and communities affected by recent attacks.

“This visit provides an opportunity to explore how we can further enhance security in Plateau State. Collaboration with critical stakeholders is key to finding sustainable solutions,” he remarked.

The Minister also paid a courtesy visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, seeking royal support in addressing the state’s security concerns.

Speaking on behalf of the Gbong Gwom, the Emir of Wase, Alhaji Dr. Sambo Haruna, commended the military’s role in restoring relative peace.

“We have worked closely with all security agencies, and together, we have made notable progress,” he acknowledged.

Badaru expressed gratitude for the royal father’s unwavering support, reiterating the government’s dedication to resolving security issues.

“We will continue to work closely with the state government and traditional institutions to ensure lasting peace and security in Plateau State,” he affirmed.

This operational visit marks another crucial step in the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity across Nigeria, with Plateau State serving as a focal point of these renewed efforts.
