Kano State Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marwan Ahmad, has commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for receiving the prestigious Golden Award from the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) at the 2024 World Teachers’ Day celebration in Abuja.

In an interview with Abba Hamisu of Time Base Television, Engineer Ahmad described the award as a well-deserved recognition of Governor Yusuf’s unwavering dedication to transforming Kano’s educational infrastructure.

According to the commissioner, primary schools across the state had been in a state of disrepair for years, but Governor Yusuf’s administration has successfully renovated hundreds of these schools, equipping them with modern desks and instructional materials.

Engineer Ahmad further emphasized that the governor’s efforts align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which seeks to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all.

He noted that Governor Yusuf’s work is not limited to primary education but also extends to secondary and post-secondary institutions across Kano State, reflecting a holistic approach to improving educational access and quality.

“Governor Yusuf is committed to ensuring that every school in the state benefits from this comprehensive overhaul, supporting the global vision for quality education,” Ahmad stated.

He hailed the Golden Award as a significant endorsement of the governor’s achievements, particularly his focus on creating an enhanced learning environment that contributes to the broader goal of SDG 4.
