As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence Anniversary, the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, MON, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the Armed Forces, and the entire nation.
Dr Matawalle who expressed pride in Nigeria’s progress and the determination to preserve its future, emphasized the importance of unity, security, and resilience.
Reflecting on the nation’s path since independence, Matawalle lauded Nigerians’ unwavering spirit and their ability to overcome challenges. “Nigeria’s journey has been one of resilience and strength. As we commemorate our independence, we must renew our commitment to safeguarding the unity, peace, and security of our nation,” the Minister remarked.
He urged all citizens to embrace national solidarity, reiterating the need for a united vision for peace and prosperity.
According to Matawalle, this year’s celebration is not just a reflection of past achievements but a call for deeper commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration.
In a tribute to the Armed Forces, Matawalle praised their enduring role as the “cornerstone of Nigeria’s sovereignty.”
He highlighted the dedication and sacrifices of the military in ensuring that the nation remains secure and free.
“Our military remains the backbone of our nation’s security. Their efforts have been instrumental in keeping Nigeria strong in the face of threats,” Matawalle said.
The Minister acknowledged President Tinubu’s commitment to supporting the military through enhanced training and capacity-building initiatives, which are critical in combating insurgency, banditry, and other criminalities.
He urged the military to redouble their efforts and collaborate with other security agencies to stamp out insecurity.
Dr. Matawalle called for a collective reflection on the nation’s future, reminding citizens of their shared responsibility in ensuring a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria. “Let us unite as one people with a shared vision for a brighter future for all Nigerians,” Matawalle stated.
The Defence Minister wished President Tinubu, the military, and all Nigerians a successful and joyful Independence Day celebration, emphasizing that the nation remains indivisible.
