Nigeria and Egypt Forge Stronger Defence Ties with New MoU

Nigeria and Egypt have formalized a significant step toward strengthening their defence industry collaboration with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja, underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in the defence sector.

The MoU was signed by Nigeria’s Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, and Egypt’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Major General Walid Hamouda.

The agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas such as intelligence sharing, joint training, and capacity building, in accordance with the laws and regulations of both countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Kana expressed optimism that the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and Egypt would be further strengthened by the MoU.

“This partnership will create lasting cooperation between our countries. Nigeria has greatly benefited from Egypt’s experience and expertise, particularly in intelligence sharing and defence training,” he stated.

Major General Walid Hamouda, leading the Egyptian delegation, commended the Nigerian government for facilitating the agreement and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to the MoU.

He emphasized Egypt’s dedication to fostering stronger ties and mutual respect between the two nations.
