President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a ‘Youth House’ in Abuja, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at creating a central hub for young people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Engr. Ayodele Olawande, announced the approval today during a press conference held at his office in Abuja.

Engr. Olawande explained that the ‘Youth House’ will serve as a meeting point for young Nigerians, offering a platform for social interaction, self-discovery, and talent development.

He highlighted that this initiative fulfills a long-standing desire among youth groups for a dedicated space in the nation’s capital.

“What the President has accomplished is to provide all Nigerian youth with another platform for social interaction and an opportunity to discover their self-identity and passions. With the ‘Youth House’ now established, many young people will have the chance to effectively showcase their talents and abilities,” said Olawande.

He added, “For a long time, various youth stakeholders and groups have been calling for a significant building in the nation’s capital to function as a ‘Youth House,’ but this desire has gone unfulfilled. Now, our youth-supporting President has made this a reality, and Nigerian youth are grateful.”

According to the Minister, a detailed organogram and the functions of the Youth House will be released soon.

He noted that the initiative aims to develop essential life skills among the youth, including leadership, teamwork, cooperation, and communication.

Olawande also revealed plans for establishing Youth Centres in each state capital and ‘Youth Green Houses’ at the secretariats of all 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

According to him, “I want to emphasize that the Youth House will not only be in the FCT, but there will also be a Youth Centre in every state of the Federation, along with a corresponding Youth Green House to be situated within the secretariats of all the 774 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Although these won’t be large structures, they will help us achieve our goal of bringing the government closer to the youth at every level to promote fairness and enhance the administration’s commitment to implementing youth programs and policies inclusively.”

The initiative, which involves coordination with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and private sector partners, is expected to facilitate opportunities for all categories of youth across Nigeria.

Olawande praised President Tinubu for his commitment to youth development, stating that the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” has already shown tangible benefits for Nigerian youth.

He called on the youth to remain patient and supportive, emphasizing the government’s continued focus on youth issues.
