The Ministry of Youth Development has assured the public that no lives were lost in the partial toilet collapse at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Ise Orun, Emure Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident occurred early on Friday, July 12, 2024.
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, urged the public to remain calm, confirming that all members of the camp community, including the two injured corps members, are receiving medical attention.
“What happened in Ekiti NYSC Camp is unfortunate, but we are on top of the situation. We will work with the Ekiti State government to significantly improve the facilities at the Orientation Camp to ensure this kind of incident never reoccurs,” Olawande assured.
Reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development to the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all youth, the Minister encouraged corps members nationwide to continue their camp activities without fear.
He pledged to engage relevant stakeholders to review the conditions of NYSC camps across the country.
The Minister reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to addressing the needs and concerns of the youth.
