In a recent youth empowerment program held in Edo State, Minister of State for Youth Development, Engr. Ayodele Olawande, affirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to create an environment that allows young Nigerians to excel in their various vocations.
Speaking at the event organized by the Dr. Paddy Emmanuel Foundation, Minister Olawande emphasized President Tinubu’s dedication to fulfilling the “Renewed Hope” promise, highlighting his own appointment as evidence of the President’s vision for equal opportunities for all Nigerians.
“The President envisions a nation where every child, regardless of their background, has an equal chance to succeed and live a dignified life. My appointment, as someone from an ordinary Nigerian background, exemplifies the President’s commitment to building a country that offers fair opportunities to everyone,” Olawande stated.
The Minister encouraged the grant recipients at the ceremony to use the funds wisely, noting that the government would continue to foster a supportive environment for the growth of small-scale industries, where many young people are active.
“Our greatest strength as youth is our ‘can do’ spirit. We must recognize that while certificates are important, skills are essential for success. Acquiring skills makes it easier for foundations like Dr. Paddy’s to assist the government in empowering us,” he added.
Dr. Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, Founder of DP Foundation, also spoke at the event, highlighting the foundation’s decade-long commitment to wealth redistribution and improving the lives of the youth.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, government officials, private sector representatives, celebrities, and top politicians, including APC governorship candidate in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo; deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Dennis Edahosa; leadership coach and author, Dr. Linus Okorie; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Comrade Sunday Asefon; Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Ms. Titilope Gbadamosi; and singer-songwriter Timi Dakolo.
