…Faction APM urges Candidates to participate in elections as candidates
The National Chairman of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bagana has urged candidates of the party to see themselves as the rightful party candidates irrespective of the challenges the faction is going through in the hands of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Banana also stated that INEC recognizes parties and not individuals so also the law.
” Feel free to participate in the elections as the lawful candidates of the party, APM, that you all are. The rest would be handled in the court”.
The National Chairman of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM), Alhaji Muhammed Musa Bagana made this known on Friday in a press statement made available to journalists.
Below is the full text of his address.
“My fellow compatriots and esteemed members of our dear party, the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM). I am greatly honoured to be elected by your good selves to lead this party as the National Chairman.
Since my election and assumption of office in August, 2022, the party has been bedeviled by unnecessary challenges arising from self- centredness of some members of the party who intentionally positioned themselves to destroy the party in collaboration with agencies of government, to the detriment of our collective interests, the desires, aspirations and ambitions of citizens who identified our party as a credible political platform to engage with the democratic process and to also contest elections. It became a necessary battle to fight.
First to ensure that our leadership and candidates who came up through the democratic process of election are recognized by INEC and saving the soul of the party, because we have the legal instrument which is a Federal High Court Judgement that has not been stayed execution by any court of competent jurisdiction, including the Court of Appeal.
It is really disheartening and embarrassing that a regulatory agency like INEC could flaunt, disobey and disregard court order with impunity in a democratic dispensation. Where then lies the future of democracy in our country?
Be that as it may, I must sincerely thank all of you for your continuous support, resilience and loyalty to the party and tol the leadership of the party at all levels.
The 2023 general elections is here. We have candidates contesting as President, Senators, Federal House Representatives, Governor’s and State Houses of Assembly. Vote them into their respective offices of contest to safeguard your party from being deregistered.
While it is a pity that as our candidates you could not put in all your best in the campaigns to gather votes for yourselves because of the court cases and disobedience of court order by INEC orchestrated by the deliberate effort of some members and their cohorts to dis-stabilize the party which resulted into the non inclusion of your names on the INEC portal and litigations to cause unnecessary delays, I URGE ALL CANDIDATES TO GO INTO THE ELECTIONS SINCE IT IS THE PARTY LOGO THAT WOULD BE ON THE BALLOT PAPER NOT THE FACES OF INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES. FURTHERMORE, I WISH TO INFORM YOU THAT THE PARTY LEADERSHIP STANDS WITH YOU IN THIS CHALLENGING PERIOD AND ARE WELL GUIDED BY LEGAL LUMINARIES ON EACH STEP TAKEN TOWARDS ACHIEVING SUCCESS. BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE ELECTIONS. LET ME ALSO ADD, THAT EVERY SUCCESS COMES THROUGH A ROUGH ROAD; AS BEAUTIFUL AS ROSES ARE, YOU CANNOT PLUCK ANY WITHOUT PASSING THROUGH A THORN; AND AS SWEET AS HONEY IS, YOU MUST BE STUNG BY A HONEY BEE TO GET TO THE HONEY COMB. I assure you that the leadership is on your matter regardless of whether your name is on INEC portal or not, whether elections are held or not. Truth and justice must prevail.
Election is a process that has series of activities before, during and after the conduct, therefore, let not your hearts be troubled. Go into the elections with vigour, tenacity, courage and commitment of hope for victory.
Like I earlier said. 2023 elections are here. It is expected that as a party, we have a direction. Indeed it is true. However, the peculiarity of our party during this election is such that requires dynamism and strategic thinking in order to be relevant. As the National Chairman of our great party, I am bound to uphold the motto of our party which is INTEGRITY, SACRIFICE, SERVICE. In consultation with my team therefore, we decided that it is important that we remain relevant in the political space of this country, not only at the national level, but also in our respective states. We have therefore resolved that EVERY STATE SHOULD ACT ACCORDING TO THE POLITICAL PECULIARITY IN THEIR STATE. RECOGNISING THAT POLITICS IS LOCAL
The 2023 general election has taken a different dimension from the usual language in our political parlance ‘top to bottom’. The political awareness, knowledge and education today supercedes that of yesteryears. We therefore considered various variables that would promote the motto of our party to arrive at the resolution
I crave your indulgence therefore, to accept our decision as leaders you have entrusted your loyalty to and who are committed to always serving your interest in the best of their human abilities. We enjoin you to work in harmony with one another and as a team in your respective states to ensure that you uphold the integrity of our party in all your alliances, negotiations, collaborations, cooperations, partnerships and networking for a peaceful election at all levels.
