FG Committed to Translating Youth Expectations into Actionable Policies, Says Minister of Youth

The Federal Government is resolute in its commitment to transforming the diverse and evolving expectations of Nigerian youth into actionable policies, according to Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.

Speaking at the Nigerian Youth Consultative Forum, themed “The Summit of the Future,” held at the United Nations House Auditorium in Abuja, Dr. Ibrahim highlighted the government’s dedication to addressing the specific needs and aspirations of young Nigerians.

The forum aimed to capture the views and expectations of the youth, collectively addressing their challenges to create a future where every young Nigerian can thrive.

Dr. Ibrahim emphasized the forum’s primary objective: diligently gathering and comprehensively understanding the diverse views and expectations of the youth by collectively addressing their pertinent challenges.

“Nigeria’s challenges are complex, but not insurmountable,” Dr. Ibrahim stated.

“By harnessing the power of technology, fostering entrepreneurship, and championing education and skills development, we can create a vibrant ecosystem where young Nigerians can thrive. We must also prioritize inclusivity, ensuring that our initiatives benefit every segment of society, including marginalized and vulnerable groups.”

The Minister encouraged young people to be bold in their ideas, fearless in their advocacy, and relentless in their pursuit of a better future.

She added that the platform amplifies the voices of Nigerian youth and brings solutions to their challenges.

Dr. Ibrahim further explained that achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires more than just governmental effort; it demands the active participation of every citizen, especially the youth.

Also speaking, the World Health Organization (WHO) Representative and United Nations Resident Coordinator Dr. Walter Kazadi Mulombo noted that the event provides an opportunity to regain focus and reaffirm a commitment to a multilateral approach that benefits all people and regions.

He highlighted that the future summit will build on the 2023 SDG Summit to enhance global cooperation and accelerate progress on the 2030 agenda.
