“It is evident that we have the numbers and supporters at the grassroots. What we lacked was the commitment and sacrifice needed on election day, which was easily the reason we lost in the two previous elections. ” Ajia expressed confidence that with renewed commitment, the party will emerge victorious.

In a significant move to bolster youth engagement and address pressing challenges faced by young Nigerians, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Youth Development, has pledged a robust collaboration with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Foundation.
The partnership, aimed at providing meaningful opportunities to Nigeria’s youth, is designed to deter them from engaging in negative behaviors by offering support in key sectors such as agriculture, arts and crafts, and information and communication technology (ICT).
The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, made this announcement during a courtesy visit by the NYSC Foundation’s Executive Secretary, Barr. Ventim Bako, at his office in Abuja.
The Minister emphasized the need for a nationwide initiative, envisioning the foundation’s presence in all 774 local government areas of the country.
“If we can have a foundation in every local government area, it will go a long way in keeping our youth productively engaged, steering them away from ill behavior,” Olawande stated.
Highlighting the importance of the collaboration, Olawande remarked, “We cannot do this alone. That’s why we’re partnering with the NYSC Foundation to engage our youth in critical sectors. This collaboration is essential if we are to truly make a difference.”
He underscored the urgency of providing young Nigerians with opportunities, asserting that the future of the nation depends on its youth.

The Minister of State for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has urged Nigerians to be patient with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring that the government’s policies will soon yield positive results for the country.
The Minister made this appeal during the celebration of the Joint Union Negotiating Council (JUNC) week of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, held at the Atiku Hall, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation in Abuja.
The event, themed “The Working People in a Volatile, Uncertain, and Complex Economy,” marked the first JUNC week since the demerger of the Ministries of Youth and Sports.
Speaking at the gathering, Olawande expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to bring about meaningful change, emphasizing that citizens should trust the process.
“I urge you to be patient with this administration. In no distant time, the country will take a good shape, and the lives of its citizens will be transformed. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a man of integrity who has no personal interest in looting the nation’s treasury. Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olubunmi Olusanya, urged staff members to put in their best efforts as promotions from next year would be based on the newly introduced Performance Management System (PMS), replacing the Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER).
He explained that PMS provides a more accurate reflection of an employee’s contributions and would serve as the criteria for future career advancements.
Olusanya disclosed that the welfare of the staff is his priority as workers deserve the best for the services rendered.
He opined that “the hungry man is an angry man and as a worker, if you are not treated fairly and properly, it is impossible to get the best out of you. As a result, all staff will be treated properly as motivation to propel the best in you”, he concluded.
In her keynote address, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, OON, MNI, assured civil servants that ongoing reforms aimed at revitalizing the Civil Service were on track.
She urged workers to remain committed and diligent in their service to the nation, adding that these reforms would ensure a more efficient and corruption-free civil service.
Speaking also, the General Secretary of the Union, Mr. Jerry Akume, celebrated the union’s recent achievements, including the upward review of staff welfare, timely payment of repatriation allowances, and improvements in staff training programs.
Akume called on the Ministry to continue addressing key issues such as the procurement of staff buses, improvement in welfare packages for festive seasons, and consistent general staff training.
The JUNC week serves as an important opportunity to reflect on the progress of the Ministry and address the needs of its workforce.

In preparation for the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebrations (AFRDC), the Ministry of Defence has inaugurated a National Planning Committee (NPC).
The committee was formally launched by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, mni, on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Dr. Kana, speaking at the inauguration, highlighted the Federal Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
He urged the committee to develop creative initiatives that would not only honour the memory of the fallen but also foster a spirit of patriotism across the country.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” Dr. Kana said, representing the Honourable Minister of Defence.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15, is dedicated to remembering Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
Dr. Kana further extended recognition to all security agencies, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national safety and sovereignty.
“The Remembrance Day is not just about the Armed Forces, but also about acknowledging the work of all security agencies who ensure the safety and stability of our nation. This event must inspire future generations to uphold this legacy of service,” he added.

The flooding, triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam, has caused widespread destruction of properties, displacing many residents and deepening the challenges faced by a region already grappling with security and humanitarian issues.

In a significant boost to security efforts in Northwest Nigeria, the Nigerian military has successfully neutralized one of the most notorious bandit kingpins, Halilu Buzu Sububu.
This major milestone follows the relocation of the Command and Control Centre to Sokoto by the Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle MON, acting on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.
The relocation is part of a larger strategic initiative aimed at restoring peace and stability in the Northwest.
Since his appointment, Dr. Matawalle has worked tirelessly alongside service chiefs to implement President Tinubu’s vision of a secure and peaceful region.
The elimination of Halilu Sububu represents a substantial breakthrough in the ongoing mission to rid the region of banditry.

The Honourable Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle (MON), has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to enhancing African security by providing strategic sealift capacity to the African Union Commission (AUC).

In a meeting held at Ship House, Abuja, with the Inter-Ministerial Committee responsible for reviewing the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on African Union Strategic Sealift capacity, Dr. Matawalle emphasized Nigeria’s leadership role in managing the sealift assets.
He further highlighted the country’s capacity to provide necessary escort services. “It is our asset, and it is befitting that we direct it,” he stated.
The Minister praised the committee for their work in showcasing Nigeria’s growing military capabilities and reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening the country’s role in African Union peace and security initiatives.

Ambassador Innocent A. Iwejuo, leader of the Inter-Ministerial Committee, briefed the Minister on the reviewed draft MoU and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) between Nigeria and the AUC.
Iwejuo also informed the Minister about the upcoming visit of AUC representatives to Nigeria.
The Inter-Ministerial Committee includes representatives from the Ministries of Defence, Foreign Affairs, Justice, the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to ECOWAS, ECOWAS National Unit, and the Nigerian Navy.
