Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Neutralize Scores of Terrorists, Including Bello Turji’s Son

Emmanuel Daudu

In a decisive operation on January 17, 2025, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Air Component, carried out a series of coordinated clearance missions along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis.

The operation resulted in the elimination of scores of terrorists, including the son of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, who was hiding with his combatants on Fakai high ground.

The intensity of the troops’ firepower led to heavy casualties among the terrorists, the destruction of their logistics hub, and the successful rescue of several kidnapped hostages held captive by Turji’s group.

In a cowardly move, Bello Turji managed to escape, abandoning his son and fighters to their fate.

In a related operation, troops destroyed another terrorist camp led by a kingpin known as Idi Mallam, located in the Zango Kagara Forest. During the encounter, three terrorists were neutralized, and three suspected collaborators were arrested.

The operation also led to the recovery of significant arms and ammunition, including two machine guns, one AK-47 rifle with a magazine containing 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
Additionally, troops rescued 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep, among other items.

The ongoing operations reflect the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces to safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians. Troops remain relentless in their onslaught against terrorists, ensuring the protection and safety of citizens across the country.

Maryam Aminu

In a significant step towards enhancing consumer protection and fostering fair competition in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) have formalized a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

At a ceremony held at the FCCPC headquarters, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, and FCCPC’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Mr. Tunji Bello, highlighted the groundbreaking collaboration between the two regulatory bodies.

The partnership aims to streamline regulatory oversight, eliminate conflicts, and enhance the efficiency of operations within the telecommunications industry.

Dr. Maida emphasized the importance of this collaboration in fostering a competitive and consumer-focused telecom sector.

“This MoU is the culmination of healthy engagements and a shared resolve to protect Nigerian consumers, particularly in the rapidly evolving communications industry,” he said.

“The telecommunications sector is vital to Nigeria’s economic and social development. Ensuring a level playing field for stakeholders and protecting consumers who depend on reliable and affordable services are paramount.”

He lauded the FCCPC for its dedication to consumer protection and fair competition, adding, “This partnership underscores our joint commitment to the Federal Government’s Ease of Doing Business objectives while addressing challenges such as market abuses and consumer rights violations in the digital economy.”

Mr. Tunji Bello of FCCPC echoed these sentiments, noting that regulatory overlaps, as provided for in Section 105 of the FCCPA 2018, ensure no consumer issue falls through the cracks.

He emphasized that the collaboration aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of fostering economic growth through regulatory partnerships and prioritizing consumer welfare.

The MoU is expected to enhance consumer protection by harmonizing regulatory efforts.

It is also expected to streamline operations for telecom operators through coordinated oversight.

The MoU will further foster fair competition and reduce exploitative practices.

It will also set a precedent for other sector regulators to adopt similar collaborative frameworks with the FCCPC.

Both leaders commended their teams for the hard work that led to this milestone and called on stakeholders to embrace the spirit of collaboration.

“This partnership represents a united front to ensure innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability in Nigeria’s telecommunications sector,” Dr. Maida remarked.

Maryam Aminu

The Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, has urged stakeholders to create platforms that empower, employ, and protect young Nigerians, as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to youth development.

Speaking in Abuja during a visit by the Nigerian Youth Economic Engagement and De-radicalization Programmes (NIYEEDEP) delegation, led by Comrade Kennedy Iyere, Olawande emphasized the need to leverage technology and renewable energy to drive youth-led innovation.

He highlighted the Tinubu administration’s dedication to collaborating with initiatives like NIYEEDEP to address the challenges facing Nigerian youth.

“I am confident in your team’s ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently to tackle the pressing issues confronting young people. However, I urge you to focus on actionable steps rather than prolonged discussions, as empowering youth early is critical to preventing societal problems,” Olawande stated.

Hon. Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande in a group photograph with the team from NIYEEDEP during the visit.

In his remarks, Comrade Kennedy Iyere described Nigeria’s youth population as the nation’s most significant asset, even surpassing its oil resources.

He expressed concern over youth exclusion, noting its potential to foster frustration and alienation, which could lead to negative consequences.

“To harness the potential of our youth for national development, it is essential to engage them constructively through collaborative programmes and strategic recruitment into various sectors. This approach will ensure they become integral stakeholders in Nigeria’s future, fostering stability and growth,” Iyere said.

He also acknowledged the support of the American Grant Writers Association in fundraising for youth engagement initiatives. According to Iyere, this partnership aims to secure resources to channel youth energy into productive activities.

Tinubu’s recent visit to Enugu is readiness to serve all Nigerians – TMV

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has described President Bola Tinubu’s recent engagements in Enugu state as a positive development indicating his readiness to unite the country and ensure that no part is ignored.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Shedrach Sunday, the group noted that the president’s pronouncement in the course of the visit was reassuring

TMV said: “For us, the recent visit of President Bola Tinubu to Enugu state has truly shattered any doubts in any quarters about his commitment to serve all Nigerians with equal love and devotion.

“We note with joy that he used the opportunity of the one-day visit to reiterate the need for all Nigerians to see themselves as one united people.

His adorning of the traditional Igbo attire with a matching cap was symbolic in many ways and further shows his ability to acclimatize himself in any part of the country.

“We also applaud the announcement by the President to complete the Eastern Railway project, which traverses all states in the South East Region up to Maiduguri in Borno state.

There is no doubt that the completion of this rail corridor will accelerate the socio-economic development of the South East and the country in general.

“It is also commendable that President Tinubu had approved the completion of the Port Harcourt to Aba rail line on his assumption of office.

“We acknowledge the announcement of Mr. President to support the development of the Anambra oil and gas basin.

“We believe that the realisation of this project will create jobs for the people of the area, as well as boost the revenue profile of the entire region and the country as a whole. “

The President’s one-day visit to Enugu has opened a new chapter in an inter-ethnic relationship among all Nigerians and showed that under his watch, no region of the country would be left behind, TMV said.

You Lied About Your Arrest, Concerned Christian Youths To Former Sacked Pastor

The concerned christian youths have denied false claims by former sacked pastor about his arrest.

In a press statement signed by the leader of the group Agama James Paul, it reads.

PRESS RELEASE

Our attention has been drawn to some online publications purportedly claiming that some individuals were arrested by or at the instance of a certain revered man of God. Nothing can be farther from the truth.

We would like to sensitize the public to treat such publications as egregiously malicious, inciteful and fallacious with the intention of swaying attention from the truth.

The individuals in question are cyber bullies who have been attacking the Christian Faith and reputable Christian leaders in Nigeria. Those publications are being peddled by the same acrimonious agents in furtherance of their nefarious agenda against the Christian Faith and Christian leaders in Nigeria.

Who made the Arrests.

The arrests were rather made by us, Concerned Christian Youths and Spiritual Sons of the Faith. And we invoked the relevant provisions of the Law against cybercrimes.

The Legal Basis for the ArrestsThe Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, ETC) ACT 2015 with the Amendment Act, 2024 have explicit, unambiguous provisions against cybercrimes, including cyber-bullying. Section 24 sub-section (1) provides that, “A person who knowingly or intentionally sends a message or other matter by means of computer systems or Network that –(b) he knows to be false, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, ill will or needless anxiety to another or causes such a message to be sent. Commits an offence under this Acts and is liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not more than 3 years…”Similarly, Section 24 Sub-section 2 provides that, “A person who knowingly or intentionally Transmits or causes the Transmission of any communication through a computer system or Network – To bully, threaten or harass another person, where such communication places another person in fear of death, violence or bodily harm to another person; (c) containing any threat to harm the property or reputation of the addressee or of another or the reputation of a deceased person or any threat to accuse the addressee or any other person of a crime, to extort from any person, firm, association or corporation, any money or other thing of value, commits an offence under this Act, and is liable on conviction – In the case of paragraph (a) and (b) of this sub-section, to imprisonment for a term of this sub-section, to imprisonment for a term of 10 years…, and, In the case of paragraph (C) of this sub-section, to imprisonment for a term of 5 years…”Following the provisions of this Act, the Nigerian Police Force in December 2024 declared cyberbullying as a criminal offence punishable by Law. Thus, the activities of the arrested individuals made them liable to prosecution and conviction under the provisions of this Act as highlighted above, and that is the reason for their arrest.

Before this Time;

Before this time, we have invoked the above provisions to arrest and press charges against a certain prophet who was picked up by the police from Lagos, and after having tasted the other side of the Law, he offered a public apology both in electronic and text forms and published same in reputable national dailies. This shows the extent to which we are ready to use the provisions of the Law to confront anyone who denigrates our Faith or attacks our fathers of faith. This is regardless of whether the cyberbully is a self-acclaimed clergy or a laity.

Judicial Precedents (Similar Arrests and Prosecutions).

We are not alone in this war against social media anarchy, brigandage and gangsterism. In July 2023, a social media influencer (Tiktoker), Okoye Blessing Nwakaego was sentenced by Justice Oweibo of the Federal High Court, Lagos to 3 years imprisonment for engaging in cyberbullying a Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus. The police had accused the convict of conspiring between December 2022 and July 2023 to commit a felony, to wit: cyberstalking. The convict was also said to have knowingly caused the transmission of communication via Tiktok, gossip mill tv, remedy blog and other social media network, which is grossly offensive and false and to cause annoyance, inconvenience, danger, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, and needless anxiety to the prejudice of one Eniola Badmus. And away from Nigeria, in July 2021, a French court convicted 11 people charged with harassing and threatening via the internet, a teenager who harshly criticized a certain religion. The verdict was the first of its kind since France created a new Paris court in January to prosecute online crimes, including harassment and discrimination. The court sentenced the defendants to suspended prison terms of four to six months and fined them about $1,770 each.

Why We Got Involved…

Across the globe, the hazards of social media, especially, cyberbullying have assumed a worrisome dimension.

In Nigeria, it is even more worrisome as these attacks are targeted at the Christian Faith and her reputable leaders. Almost every content creator in Nigeria is using the mockery of Christianity and Christian leaders to ply their trade.

This is denigrating, defamatory and blasphemous to Christianity, and therefore unacceptable. No genuine Christian can watch the mockery and denigration of Christianity as is being done in Nigeria with indifference. The most vital part of every man’s existence is his faith or belief system. We find the foundation of our existence as Christians, and our hope for the future, both in this world and in the hereafter, threatened by the barrage of unwarranted attacks against our spiritual leaders. Most reputable leaders are either too big or too busy to engage detractors, and we cannot sit idly by and watch some malicious elements attack their reputation with the aim of confusing the minds of their followers.

These are the very people from whose mouths we receive the gospel of hope and salvation. Beyond this, the activities of these individuals are breeding social anarchy, moral decadence and lawlessness with the overall implication of plunging our society if not the whole nation into an inferno of social and religious violence. Our country has grappled with the challenges of insecurity for so long; we cannot afford to open a new front for another form of violence and insecurity.

Therefore, it is in the overall interest of national security to address this social media brigandage called cyberbullying. These are the reasons why we cannot hold our peace. We are ready to use every applicable provision of the law to tackle these unwarranted, illogical, brazen, malicious and ill-conceived attacks on the Christian Faith and reputable fathers of Faith in Nigeria regardless of denomination until justice is served and sanity is restored. We are fully armed with the truth, and we know that the forces of evil will always bow before good as the wicked bows at the gates of the righteous.

Conclusion….

In conclusion, we want to reiterate the fact that the publicized arrests were made by us and not by any man of God as purported by those malicious publications. Therefore, any attempt to further twist the narrative and force falsehood down the throats of the public will be vehemently resisted, if necessary, with further legal actions using applicable provisions of the Law.

Signed: James Paul Adama.

Troops Neutralize 34 Terrorists, Recover Weapons in Borno

Emmanuel Daudu

On January 4, 2025, a daring attempt by ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists to attack troops stationed in Sabon Gari, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, was decisively repelled by Nigerian Armed Forces.

The attack, reportedly aimed at avenging the recent elimination of a terrorist commander and his fighters, began when the insurgents riding motorcycles and gun trucks engaged troops in a fierce firefight.

However, the troops, on a fighting patrol and bolstered by reinforcements, swiftly foiled the ambush.

The reinforcement team, comprising elements of the Civilian Joint Task Force, vigilantes, and hybrid forces, effectively overwhelmed the attackers. Despite encountering an improvised explosive device (IED) that injured the Vigilante Commander, the combined forces succeeded in decimating the fleeing terrorists.

Adding to the onslaught, the air component of Operation HADIN KAI conducted precision airstrikes on the retreating insurgents.

A Battle Damage Assessment confirmed the elimination of 34 terrorists, with the recovery of 23 AK-47 rifles, over 200 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and other weapons.

Tragically, six personnel were killed in action during the operation.

The Armed Forces have withheld their names pending notification of their next of kin and have urged the media to respect this process.

Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, emphasized the unwavering commitment of the Nigerian Armed Forces to ending insurgency and terrorism.

“The Armed Forces remain resolute in their mission to defeat all terrorist threats to the peace and security of our nation,” he stated.

This operation is a testament to the military’s determination to safeguard Nigeria’s territorial integrity and bring lasting peace to conflict-affected regions.
